Lots of green thinkers like that American Apparel uses organic cotton and pays stateside workers fairly, but many call company founder Dov Charney a sexist, union-busting yuppie in hipster threads. Charney haters should check out this
Sustainable Industries Journal interview of a labor-friendly organic t-shirt maker. No Sweat hires union workers around the world. A shop just opened at Harvard Square.
[CEO Adam Neiman] says he visited with Charney in the past to discuss unions. “Dov only saw this as a marketing ploy,” says Neiman. “And as he says repeatedly, people are much more interested — and clearly he’s more interested in — sex and soft-core porn than in worker’s rights.”
But do No Sweat's tees fit as well as those made by American Apparel? AA posted $250 million in sales this year so far for good reason, 83 times more than what little No Sweat sells.
I'll need to buy one of these Ts just to see how they fit --
